The Benton County Republican Party's core principles are federalism, the Constitution & the rule of law. We believe that solving today's problems must be done within the context of the U.S. & the Minnesota Constitutions & within the context of Minnesota's state laws.

We believe that the Tenth Amendment, when interpreted properly, limits the scope of the federal government's reach. We believe that the best solutions come from the private sector. We believe in local control. The city council is responsible for maintaining city streets, city planning & public safety on the city's streets. The county commission is responsible for maintaining county roads & patrolling those county roads, etc.

We believe that the clear delineation of powers & responsibilities is the best way to make government operate most efficiently & keep it limited in scope. We believe that this format of government leads to the greatest freedom for We The People, which is what the Founding Fathers intended.

Our Founding Fathers knew that a government big enough to give us everything could just as easily take those things away. That puts alot of responsibility on the individual but it also gives the individual the greatest amount of freedom.
